Detroit Lions Game versus New York Giants on Monday Night Football
The 24-10 win of Detroit Lions over the New York Giants in the football match on Monday 18th September, 2017 night was a top-rated event and beat the numbers for the ESPN broadcast of the same week last year. The game got 12,741,000 total live viewers throughout ESPN, ESPN 2 and ESPN Deportes. Total live viewers are from live TV and streaming.
Ameer Abdullah ran 86 yards, Matthew Stafford threw for a couple of touchdowns and the Detroit Lions overturned the New York Giants, 24-10 in the Monday night game. The team didn’t actually dominate in any way, since the total yardage for both teams were the same and each made one turnover; however the Lions took benefit of a few big plays on fourth down and special teams to advance to 2-0.
First Quarter Highlights
Taking benefit of the nice field position offered by a three-and-out on the opening drive of Giants, the Lions drove down the field and with Matthew Stafford’s 27-yard touchdown pass to Marvin Jones, got on the scoreboard.
The Lions almost took the lead on an Eli Manning misstep that the defense came back for a touchdown on the first possession of the game of New York; however, in video it was seen that Manning’s knee knocked on the ground before the ball was pried loose. Then the Giants ran a draw on third-and-13 and punted in their own end from deep.
Late in the 2nd quarter, Matt Prater required his kick to span 56 yards for a field goal. Well, he got there but it was as near as you could perhaps think of. The ball rebounded off the crossbar and screeched through by that much.
Third Quarter Highlights
Eli Manning got some time at last to make plays and he did just that with a pass which was 38-yard deep to tight end Jerell Adams and a pass of 17-yard that kept the offense at the 1-yard line. Nevertheless, a couple of penalties compelled the team to settle for Aldrick Rosas’ 25-yard field goal and things stalled from that point.
All in all, it was a great game for NFL fans and every moment of it was exciting and fun to offer true value.
