Hoverboards – Are they Safe Now?

hoverboardEven if you have never been to one, you’ve probably heard that Indian weddings can be incredibly dramatic. Indian couples invest so much money, energy and creativity when organizing their big event that they simply cannot settle for anything but a memorable, breathtaking affair. Several months ago, one couple went a step ahead; they’ve entered their wedding on hoverboards! Their friends and relatives were astonished! That’s why I’ve decided to write something about hoverboards; are they actually safe now? Let’s find out!

Hoverboards are two-wheeled gadgets which use internal gyroscopes in order to detect the riders’ movements to move in some direction. This means that you only have to lean in the wanted direction; the electric motors will activate and you’ll be driven there.

Li-Ion battery is probably the one you use for powering your mobile phone (and other gadgets), right? It charges your hoverboard, too. So, why didn’t your mobile phone catch fire, whereas a hoverboard did? To cut the long story short, this is what happened with previous, unsafe versions of hoverboards, due to their nature, low quality components and poor manufacturing.

As a transportation device, a hoverboard is exposed to a lot more of impacts and vibrations than our mobile phones, for example. This is what can exacerbate any manufacturing defect of the battery, while increasing the risk of fire significantly. This is what many retailers chose to stop selling these gadgets.

Luckily, hoverboard manufacturing companies have a right answer; they’ve created safer hoverboards that pass the (fire) inspection. So, yes, it’s safe to buy a hoverboard now, but it’s wiser to opt for those that are UL* certified. Check out an amazing selection of FloatingBoard hoverboards and I’m sure you’ll find one that will meet your needs. And, who knows, maybe you’ll be another bride or groom entering their wedding on hoverboards!

*Underwriters’ Laboratories (abbreviated UL) is an organization that tests electrical equipment, including hoverboards, to drops, vibration, water exposure, low and high temperatures, motor overloads and other kinds of stress.
